What Is Advertising ?
Advertising is about helping
people make right choices by informing them about
the benefits of products and services. Advertising
promotes a product or service or event to its target
people. A target people is the portion of the
general public that products, services or events
were created for to fill a need in the marketplace.
Advertising is about attracting attention to a
product or service or event– The art of persuasion.
About 80% of buying decisions are made by headlines
alone.
Today we are all surrounded by advertising. It is all around us. We cannot
escape looking at it or listening to it. Even if we are not consciously looking
or listening , the message of advertising reaches and influences us. It is
always recorded somewhere in our mind and is recalled when we are planning to
buy something or looking for a particular service. The idea is to drive consumer
behavior insuch a particular way in regard to a product, service or event.
There are so many advertising channels
through which it reachs to its target audience like: newspapers, magazines,
radio and television broadcasts, films, stage shows, websites, billboards,
posters, wall paintings, town criers, human billboards, flyers, rack cards, the
back of event tickets, elastic bands on disposable diapers, bathroom stall
doors, cars, taxicabs, buses, trains, subway platforms, bus stop benches, street
furniture, airplanes, in-flight seat-back trays, overhead bins, passenger
screens, skywriting, shopping carts, stickers on fruit in supermarkets,
supermarket receipts, coffee cups, mobile phone screens, opening billboards in
streaming audio and video.
Types Of Advertising.
One of the benefits of TV advertising is its ability to communicate with a very large group of people. Considered a form of mass media, TV ads work well to attract attention, generate awareness and establish preference for products and services. Because of the broad audience they target particularly through major TV networks TV ads tend to provide general, rather than very specific, messages.
Unlike television radio and Internet advertising, which flash the eye and then disappear, print ads stay on the page. Every time readers look at the page where the advertisement appears, they see the same thing. As long as the publication remains in circulation, the ad also remains in circulation. A single ad in a single magazine may promote a product or service for months or even years before someone places the magazine in the trash. No other advertising method provides that much potential longevity from a single investment.
Types Of Advertising.
Broadcast ads are tv and radio
ads. While tv commercials draw attention to the promotion of products and
services with the help of pictures and sound, radio ads reach the target people
with the help of sound. In the morning, you switch on the radio to listen to the
news or songs and it ends up by advertising message. In TV these days the news
or any programme gets interrupted by an advertising message.

Print advertising refers to ads
in printed form like those in magazines, newspapers and fliers. Copy and artwork
must work together to hold the reader's interest. Advertisers advertise their
products or services in publications that are read by their target people. Print
advertising can also include community directories such as those published by a
city's chamber of commerce, posters designed to advertise and promote an
upcoming event and direct mail promotions mailed to consumers' homes.

ads on websites, whether its small or big or the colorful banner advertisements
at the top of a website or at bottom or at center of the website. Email
marketing reaches potential customers through emails containing product
information and special offers.
Social network advertising is an online advertising such as Facebook.
Advertising on social media networks can take the form of direct display ads
purchased on social networks, self-serve advertising through internal ad
networks, and ad serving on facebook and others applications through special
